A Month for Fundraising

May is a happily busy month for realtors as the spring market is in full swing. This year, many buyers and sellers are feeling eager  as we await to see if the interest rates will hold steady again in June, or if we'll receive news of a reduction. Stay tuned, as the next rate announcement is June 5th.
In addition to the business of market activity, Ottawa is a flutter with the warm weather activities. This long weekend saw the Tulip festival wrap up on May 19th with a light show, and the Fisher Park Community Center put on a stellar park party with live music, bouncy castles, and a firework show that rivals Canada Day. Next weekend, the city will be welcoming guests from all over the world for the 50th anniversary of the annual Tamarack Race Weekend. Spread out over two days, this is an event not to be missed. Not only is it a Boston Qualifying race, it's an enormous fundraising initiative that supports dozens of causes. Each year I'm proud and grateful to be able to participate in some form or another. This year I will be running the 36 k challenge which is spread across two days, while my son, taught, husband, and father will also be running various distances. It is such a positive, family environment that celebrates health and perseverance, and it's not just for the runners, but a great time for spectators too. If you'd like to support my fundraising initiative, please click here where you'll learn about why I chose The Ovarian Cancer society.
In other fundraising news, Royal Lepage Team Realty had their annual Denim Tuesday yesterday, where we collectively raised over $50,000 for The Queensway Carelton Hospital and The Cheo Foundation.
